NEW FANCONI ANEMIA STUDY AT
THE ROCKEFELLER UNIVERSITY
Detection of Pre-malignant Changes in Fanconi Anemia Mucosa -
A Research Study at The Rockefeller University
• Where & When? The study is held at the Rockefeller University Hospital (RUH) and is now open for recruitment. It includes a single visit. We can also travel to you.
• Who? The study includes Fanconi Anemia (FA) patients age 12 years and above.
• Why? The study aims to identify changes in the mouth before they develop into cancer using a noninvasive brush. This may help us in future screening.
• What? The study includes oral examination, camera documentation,
oral brushing of six normal-appearing sites, as well as lesions, a blood draw
in a few patients also a skin biopsy (only in adult patients who had a bone marrow transplantation).
• Our study differs from the NIH FA screening study and complements it
You can take part in both studies!
– Our study is a research study and not a clinical study
– We collect genetic information from normal areas in the mouth and lesions
• Compensation is provided to participants
